Worn Teeth
Over time many of us will experience worn teeth. The cause of this can range from the acids in fruits, the sugars in sweets and fizzy drinks, acid reflux from the stomach or simply brushing too hard together with grinding and clenching (bruxism). Bruxism, which occurs at night time as people clench and grind, is often the cause of excessive wear on the front teeth and fracture of teeth and restorations. Often, after restoration, the patient may need to wear a night guard (the dental term is occlusal splint) to protect the teeth from these extreme forces. Veneers, or crowns are the usual treatment to restore the lost tooth tissue.
